About » Leadership Networks

The Nuclear Security Project works with key networks of political leaders in countries and regions worldwide. These groups help create the political space for dialogue, education and action on the vision and steps toward a world free of nuclear weapons, engaging elite audiences in an ongoing discussion about today's nuclear threats and increasing public awareness and understanding of the consequences of inaction.

Asia Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament
The Asia Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN), launched in May 2010, includes 30 former senior political, diplomatic and military leaders from thirteen countries around the region including nuclear weapons possessing states China, India and Pakistan. The objective of the group, convened by former Australian Foreign Minister Gareth Evans, is to inform and energize public opinion, and especially high-level policymakers, to take seriously the very real threats posed by nuclear weapons, and do everything possible to achieve a world in which they are contained, diminished and ultimately eliminated.

European Leadership Network (ELN)
The European Leadership Network for Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament and Non-Proliferation (ELN) includes nearly 60 former senior European political, military and diplomatic figures that have come together to express concern over the world’s growing nuclear dangers and work to have those dangers addressed on a multilateral basis.

Top Level Group of UK Parliamentarians for Multilateral Disarmament and Non Proliferation
The Top Level Group (TLG) is a group of 20 senior UK parliamentarians from all three major political parties who advocate multilateral nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. The group consists of almost all of the former senior ministers of foreign affairs and defense over the last two decades and includes former chiefs of defense who served during the same period.

In addition, the Project has a series of partners worldwide who focus on analytic stutdies and other activities related to the vision and steps.
