New NSP Asia Pacific Partner

The recently launched Asia Pacific Leadership Network for Nuclear Non-Proliferation and Disarmament (APLN), includes thirty former senior political, diplomatic and military leaders from thirteen countries around the region including nuclear weapons possessing states China, India and Pakistan. The group’s intent is to inform and energize public opinion, and especially high-level policymakers, to take seriously the very real threats posed by nuclear weapons, and do everything possible to achieve a world in which they are contained, diminished and ultimately eliminated.
RUSI Releases New report on the NATO Nuclear Debate

The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) released a new report entitled "If the Bombs Go: European Perspectives on NATO's Nuclear Debate," which examines potential defense and security policy decisions that NATO alliance members would confront if the U.S. removes non-strategic nuclear weapons deployed in Europe. The report includes contributors from France, Germany, Poland, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey, and the UK.

Lowy Institute Releases New Report on the Future of Extended Deterrence

The Lowy Instiute recently released a new report called "Weathering Change: The Future of Extended Nuclear Deterrence" based on a series of posts on its Interpreter Blog. The publication features assessments from prominent global experts nad emerging scholars. London Deterrence Conference Expands Dialogue

NTI, the Hoover Institution, and the European Leadership Network co-hosted an international conference, Deterrence: Its Past and Future, in London. The two-day conference, in May, included George Shultz, Bill Perry, Henry Kissinger, Sam Nunn and former senior officials and subject matter experts from around the world. The meeting helped stimulate international dialogue on deterrence and identify near-term practical steps that can be applied regionally and globally to support the transition toward a new and more stable form of deterrence.
NTI and UK Top Level Group Host Nuclear Tipping Point Screening at Parliament

The Top Level Group of UK Parliamentarians for Multilateral Nuclear Disarmament and Nonproliferation and the Nuclear Threat Initiative hosted a special, invitation-only screening of Nuclear Tipping Point in Parliament in London. Following the screening, George Shultz, William Perry and Sam Nunn shared their views on galvanizing global action to reduce nuclear dangers and building momentum to achieve a world without nuclear weapons and the steps to get there.
