Jonas Gahr Stoere
Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), speaks at the conference.

International security leaders and nuclear experts from 29 countries gathered in Oslo, Norway on February 26-27, 2008 to advance ideas for reducing nuclear dangers and a world free of nuclear weapons. The two-day conference, hosted by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in cooperation with NTI, the Hoover Institution and the Norwegian Radiation Protection Authority, focused on viable and innovative strategies that can be implemented over the next two to five years and how progress can be made toward achieving longer-term objectives to reduce nuclear dangers.

The Oslo meeting is an important step in building international consensus and a plan of action for steps toward a world free of nuclear weapons.
